RECIPE:

Bisacodyl ..................... 5 mg

Excipients 1 capsule

(Lactose, avicel, wheat starch, magnesium stearate, talc, PVP K30, eudragite L 100, PEG 6000, titanium dioxide, black iron oxide color, tartrazine lake color, orange E110)

DOSAGE FORM: Enteric-coated film-coated tablets.

PRESENTATION: Box of 4 blisters x 25 film coated tablets dissolved in the intestine.

ACTIONS: Bisacodyl is a topical laxative of the triarylmethane group, after hydrolysis stimulates the intestinal mucosa to increase intestinal motility.

Bisacodyl is hydrolyzed by enzymes of the intestinal mucosa into the form of desacetylbisacodyl which is absorbed and excreted partly through urine and bile as glucuronide. Thanks to the splitting of bacteria, the active ingredient of free diphenol is formed in the large intestine. The Bisacodyl formula is stable against gastric juice and small intestine juice, so the Bisacodyl film-coated tablet reaches the large intestine without significant absorption and thus avoids hepatic bowel movement.

Bisacodyl is rarely absorbed when taken orally, metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine. Orally, Bisacodyl is eliminated after 6-8 hours.

INDICATIONS: Treatment of constipation. Bowel emptying before and after surgery. Prepare X-rays of the colon.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Abdominal surgery, ileus, appendicitis, rectal bleeding, gastroenteritis.

Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug.

CAUTION: Do not chew the medication before drinking.

Antacids and milk must be taken 1 hour away.

Avoid Bisacodyl for more than 1 week, unless directed by a physician.

PREGNANT WOMEN AND LACTATION:

There is no risk of using Bisacodyl for women during pregnancy or lactation.

DRIVING AND OPERATION OF MACHINES: There are no documents on the effect of drugs on the ability to drive and operate machines.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

With potassium diuretics or potassium supplements: Bisacodyl may be less effective if used long term or overdose.

- Combined use of antacids, H2 receptor antagonists or milk with Bisacodyl within 1 hour will make the stomach and duodenum irritated by the drug dissolves quickly.

- Bisacodyl reduces Digoxin concentration, it is necessary to take Bisacodyl 2 hours before using Digoxin.

ADVERSE EFFECTS: Rarely: abdominal pain, nausea.

Inform your doctor unwanted effects encountered when using the drug.

OVERDOSE AND TREATMENT:

Symptoms: lower abdominal pain may be accompanied by signs of dehydration, especially in the elderly and children.

Management: by inducing vomiting or gastric lavage. Need to maintain rehydration and monitor serum potassium. Antispasmodics may be used when needed. Pay special attention to fluid balance in the elderly and young children.

There is no specific antidote.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Treatment of constipation:

Adults and children over 10 years: take 1 to 2 capsules in the evening. A higher dose (3 or 4 tablets) may be used if needed.

Children 6-10 years: take 1 tablet in the evening.

Use instead of stool enemas:

Adults and children over 10 years: take 2 capsules in the evening.

Children 6-10 years: take 1 tablet in the evening.

Used to prepare colon radiography:

Adults and children over 10 years of age: take 2 capsules every night, for 2 consecutive nights before the scan.

Children 6-10 years: take 1 capsule every night, for 2 consecutive nights before the scan.

Because the tablet cannot be broken down, it's not recommended for children under 6 years old.
