ACTIONS: Etoral cream contains Ketoconazole - a synthetic dioxolane imidazol derivative with fungus suppressing activity and also kills fungi when prolonged or sensitive.
Mechanism of action: Ketoconazole inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis as the main sterol of fungal cell membranes and changes other lipid components in fungal cell membranes. With Candida albicans, the drug inhibits the transformation from shoot spores to filaments capable of invading pathogens.
Antifungal spectrum: Ketoconazole has a broad spectrum of effect on many pathogenic fungi including Candida spp, Epidermophyton floccosum, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Malassezia furfur, Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis, Microsporum canis, Coccidioides immitis, Trichophyton and mentrum Aspergillus spp, Cryptococcus neoformans and Sporothrix schenckii. The drug also works on some Gram-positive bacteria.
Etoral cream with active ingredient ketoconazole works very quickly on the symptoms of itching, inflammation common in skin fungal infections. Symptoms of pruritus usually subside before the first signs of healing. Etoral cream does not cause photosensitivity on the applied area.
